One of my favorite parts of wedding design is seeing who the couple is come through the experience they create for their big day. Sydney and Robert’s bright and fun loving personalities were perfectly revealed at their vivid modern Anthem wedding. Their color palette was a blast to design in, and I had such a great time working with this sweet couple to make their wedding day all their own.
Bougainvilleas are a favorite of mine, and I love that we can experience so much of their beauty in our desert setting. When Sydney and Robert said they wanted to incorporate it into their floral design I was ALL about it. Sydney and Robert’s lighthearted and fun personalities immediately shown through, especially during our discussion on the correct pronunciation of “bougainvillea”!
The bright fun colors they were after for their big day were an infusion of energy for me, contrasting against neutral and muted color palettes. I am always a fan of the classic palettes, but in this instance I was exposed to such fun and different varieties of flowers I don’t usually work with in my product research. Boutonnieres, bouquets, and corsages in the lovely bright pink and peach color palette were a delight to design!
Anthem Country Club has the loveliest backdrop, offering a beautiful setting for events. The mountains in the distance are unbeatable. With that in mind, I try to honor the setting when designing for an Anthem wedding and not upstage that natural beauty! Utilizing low floral arrangements at the ceremony, the wedding design is tied in with the beauty of the natural setting.
Bougainvilleas are delicate, beautiful, and romantic, but also a little bit finicky. I find them to be temperamental in Arizona once it is no longer connected to its roots. At the back of the ceremony aisle were overflowing vivid large potted bougainvillea arrangements. Being as they were still planted, they stayed healthy throughout the celebration. I added floral to give it a pop and to tie into the other floral throughout the wedding. They were a wild, flowing free welcome to guests. Simple bougainvilleas were included along some of the aisle chairs, tying in with the larger arrangements at the aisle entrance.
The back of the aisle bougainvillea arrangements were transitioned to the reception dessert table. They perfectly corresponded with the reception table centerpieces, low and floral forward featuring those beautiful bougainvillea colors. It felt a little bit like sherbet when it all came together, and looked just as yummy!
Sydney and Robert were lovely to work with. Some of my other favorites of their wedding day was Sydney’s stunning lace dress. The family’s Portuguese heritage was honored by incorporating lace as their head table runner also. Guests were gifted beautiful Portuguese roosters, a common symbol for the country.
It was an honor to be part of bringing this vivid modern Anthem wedding to life for Sydney and Robert. The bright floral colors of the day and such a sweet couple made for an amazing experience! It was such an honor to have been a part of!
