The Arizona borders can’t hold in this florist! I had the stellar opportunity last fall to create floral designs for Kalie and Ryan’s beautiful tropical California wedding with beach views. I am always a fan of sending bouquets off with brides eloping to fun destinations. But the opportunity for me to do the traveling to the wedding, instead of just the flowers, was a treat! With access to blooms wherever I go, I am not held down to only arrangements for weddings in the Valley. With this flexibility, I was so honored to be able to create some blooms for this couple’s big day.
Kalie and Ryan’s wedding day was a relaxed, tropical celebration of their love. Her neutral, tropical, and clean floral hopes echoed the venue and backdrop of the waves in an amazing way. Paired with her love of the Monstera plant, the design came together so well to communicate the laid back feel, while still being classy. It was a dream to use Monstera as a foundation to inspire the rest of the design. I mixed tropical plants, Ecuadorian roses, and California grown stems. The elements were truly sourced from all over the world, but beautiful just for her event.
I felt SO spoiled working with a view of the beach in the amazing ocean air. There were palm trees, sandy beach, and surfers out riding waves. They were the perfect detail for these two surfers to tie the knot. Kalie and Ryan chose a space that communicated who they are to their guests. Sweet photos of their adventures together surfing, snowboarding, and traveling were displayed. The tropical vibes they love were shown through the details of the day. All the pieces came together so well and truly showed who they were as a couple to all present.
Armed with the request for a neutral tropical feel incorporating Monstera, Kalie was open to letting me bring this design to life. I had so much fun dreaming. Being able to create a unique design for each bride allows me to give a gift of sorts to them on their big day. Instead of worrying if I replicated a design just right, I capture a couple’s style and feel through the unique floral arrangements I create for them.
When it came time to make the designs a reality, being away from Phoenix wasn’t a problem. I work with wholesalers that source product from all over the world and can ship almost anywhere. I also like to make connections in the area I am visiting with other flower markets and wholesalers. Utilizing local available flowers can make for some great results. The logistics involved in the floral industry might be surprising. But being a fan of logistics myself, It makes my eyes light up to think through the processes in place to get each stem where it needs to go. All over the world there are countless events happening on any given day with flowers present. Even though it does take work and a lot of planning, I love the end result of gathering all of the pieces to create an event near or far.
Not in Phoenix? No problem! After I get to know you and what you’re dreaming of through phone calls and email, we’ll send ideas back and forth to settle on the look that fits you two and your big day. Once we have determined the perfect design, next is the big day! My team and I travel with all of the tools and pieces to your event and pick up your flowers that were sourced when we arrive. Just like when I am in the Valley for a wedding day, we take care of all the details of bringing the arrangements to the event to set them up and clear them away after your grand exit!
I am not hesitant to pair my love of bringing designs to couple’s on their wedding day with my love to travel. It is full of logistics and creative planning, but it is such a fun challenge that I enjoy taking on. Being able to travel to California to do the floral designs for Kalie and Ryan’s wedding was such a blast. From the beginning stages of dreaming up designs, to seeing the couple’s setting off the beach, it really was a beautiful day.
Live somewhere else or want to travel somewhere else to get married? I’d love to talk floral with you to make your design dreams come to life!
