Resilience. These two had an engagement season of resilience. Long prepared wedding plans were changed, and changed, and changed again. And while their summer wedding didn’t turn out how they had originally expected, there was no shortage of love at this whimsical intimate Phoenix wedding at Redemption Arcadia.
I adore this sweet couple, and was so excited when Haley asked me to help bring her floral dreams to life. We originally bumped into each other backstage in the arts building at ASU during a production rehearsal for the School of Dance. Haley is a brilliant costume designer. She was working on designs in the shop and I was racing to a rehearsal.
Haley went on to study custom design on a Fulbright Scholarship in Oslo, Norway. Justin and I later adventured through Oslo. Haley gave us ALL the insider tips, which was a huge help in a city with such rich history.
We also share the similarity of frequenting the same West Coast Swing dance nights. Our friendship grew further there, and Haley showed me tons of pointers on moves. We also both danced West Coast Swing with our soon to be husbands while we were dating them! Haley was pretty jazzed when she told me she was bringing Cory for the first time to a dance night.
Haley was so happy, and it was so fun to see their sweet chemistry. We knew that would not be the last time we saw Cory. We all ended up double dating and enjoying their friendship over sushi.
We both call Redemption Arcadia our home church. But Haley didn’t have it in mind as a possible venue when she was planning her wedding. She originally found a sweet church a bit north of Phoenix that had a mission vibe. She had it all planned and the experience was going to be all her own. Then came covid. She changed plans, and accepted it would be a smaller celebration. Then the venue said she couldn’t use the space anymore.
Redemption Arcadia became the new official venue! We replanned all of the details and adapted the ideas we had been working on to fit the clean, modern space.
Haley’s ethereal design was minimal, but floral forward. Lots of simple, yet elegant statements were seen throughout.
Framing their “I do” exchange were organic floral and greenery arcs of differing sizes on white pillars. Organic bright, yet soft, floral colors of pink and lush peach filled out the ceremony installation. Haley’s dress design, delicate slippers, and lovely hair floral placed in her gorgeous braid, completed the whimsical feel fit for a fairy tale.
Dainty and clean bud vases with lovely dried elements of mustard and tan details lined the clean and crisp long farm table for the reception. Fresh peachy colors in the clean glass vases were pleasing. The living and dried details being mixed in brought a whimsical feel to the design.
Haley made a wonderful celebration come together with her sweet family and friends. It was an absolute honor to be able to see their ceremony and celebrate them at their whimsical intimate Phoenix wedding!
