Wedding buzzwords get thrown around often to describe an event. They aren’t a bad thing, and useful to put into words an unforgettable experience. It’s just not every time when I associate an adjective with a wedding that it fits quite as perfect as Ali and Ryan’s romantic Chandler wedding at Wedgewood Ocotillo. Their soft color palette and airy feel placed me pretty much in the middle of a Disney princess movie. It was an honor to bring some blooms to, and a design I won’t forget anytime soon!

Pre-Design

I knew the bride, Ali, before we connected to chat wedding details. We had been roommates during my time in Tucson after college. I was working for an aerospace company as a strategic commodity manager there (I basically bought really neat stuff that went into fancy airplanes). It was super sweet catching up with her a few years later.

I had been new to Tucson, and loved living with a few girls that were still in the midst of college life. They were friends of some of my friends from Younglife at ASU, and it was fun getting a glimpse the UofA Wildcat experience since I am a Sun Devil (fork ‘em)! They gave me a hard time for having not just one, but two degrees from ASU!

I appreciated my time in Tucson getting to know Ali and experience her kindness helping me transition to a new city. When she reached out to chat about her wedding floral design, I was so excited! She is kind and lovely inside and out. I knew she would be such a beautiful and sweet bride.

Floral

Muted blush, champagne, mauve, and taupe. These are no doubt a few of my favorite colors because they blend together so effortlessly. They feel timeless for a wedding palette, and can be looked back on many years from now and still be considered in style. The colors will have you notice and adore the details in arrangements, bridesmaid dress colors, and invitation suite, to name a few. They are soft, romantic, and whimsical, with an understated tone of love. You know Valentine’s Day always comes with red and pink. Choosing the softer of the two to celebrate your love is a valid choice! So all that to say, I was very excited to bring Ali’s arrangements to life after we chatted about the color palette she had in mind.

A hexagon arch with floral install met the couple at the end of the ceremony aisle lined with white rose petals. The chair greenery was a lovely touch to frame Ali’s walk down the aisle, and the couple’s celebratory first walk back up it as husband and wife. Arch shape options are pretty much endless these days, and it was exciting to work with an alternative shape here.

Design Inspo

Her love of the color palette originated from her bridesmaid dress choices. I immediately started dreaming up my favorite flowers to come together and honor the style. Ali trusted me to bring her vision to life, and let me run with the specific design elements. I was able to use some of my favorite blooms because of the fantastic flower availability in spring. It really is a favorite season of mine because of what is being cut during that time of year. Clooney Ranunculus was one of the blooms in season I adore. I am a fan because of its soft blush color that fades to white.  They’re also especially large on the ranunculus spectrum for a fun alternative. A few of the most lovely muted colors in Ali’s color palette came in delicate roses, lisianthus, white scabiosa, butterfly ranunculus, sweet pea, and a favorite of mine, spirea.

Alexandra Loraine Photography did a fantastic job capturing this romantic Chandler wedding. And I am so grateful she did so Ali and Ryan can look back on so many special moments from their beautiful day. I don’t mind remembering back their beautiful floral either!
