Lately, I have fallen hard for burgundy. It is such a rich and bold color. It makes quite the statement and sets a mood of passion. When I was presented with the design vision of bohemian and burgundy by a sweet bride and her mom, it was dream come true! With burgundy as my muse, I ran with a complimenting color palette. Alexis and Andy’s day was a bohemian dream perfectly placed at Boojum Tree.
It was so refreshing to meet with Alexis and her mom. They had a general design idea of a bohemian wedding with the deeper burgundy colors involved. But they were open to my ideas about emphasizing the unique space at Boojum Tree. We all agreed how much we loved the detail of the ceremony space. An arch that felt Moroccan set the backdrop, with large pots framing on either edge.
Directing attention to the couple is the goal in ceremony design. I like creating interest along the aisle, leading the eye up the the altar. Any alternatives to a standard arch is a fun and welcome design I enjoy exploring also. The designs and Boojum Tree were perfectly paired with its boho accents highlighted. Deep colored greens with pops of floral were placed along the aisle, and the complimenting pots beside the building’s structural arch overflowed with burgundy touches. I’m very thankful Alexis and her mom were open to my floral vision in the ceremony space. And it was still fun to carry that design through to the reception space. There, boho centric vessels and floral of lovely winter colors met the couple and celebrating guests.
Boojum Tree was such a perfect fit for Alexis and Andy’s day. Her boho design fit so well. Plenty of plants and greens at the space created an intimate space for the ceremony and reception celebration.
I was thrilled when when I saw the peonies for Alexis’ arrangements. They were so beautiful. Blending color didn’t stop at flowers. I loved the combination of bridesmaid dress colors, and the floral perfectly complemented their attire. Rich colors made up the flowers in the bridesmaids’ hands to those in the ceremony and reception spaces. Alternative pops of color were highlighted by the lovely lisianthus to the cappuccino rose. Hints of gold in the center of the burgundy peony and the majolika spray rose paired nicely with the gold ribbon tying it all together, figuratively and literally!
A few of my sweet college friends were in the bridal party. It made my time at the Boojum Tree a ball making Alexis’ day lovely and getting to see all of the ladies preparing to celebrate the bride!
The wonderful Alexandra Loraine Photography captured the day beautifully. She is a joy to work with! Her photos show the unique moments shared between Alexis and Andy, and the details that came together for their celebration. Speaking of details, I can’t fail to mention the beauty Details by JG created with the personal touches of calligraphy bridesmaid cards. It’s details like this that make the memory even sweeter.
Alexis and Andy’s wedding day was filled with rich colors and a bohemian style all their own. Boojum Tree was the perfect space to host their celebration, surrounding them with green from plants and trees, supporting the desired mood. I had so much fun designing for their day, and was honored to bring some blooms!
