Go to Phoenix Breakfast Spots

My go-to Phoenix breakfast spots for my favorite meal of the day. These are the places I go to enjoy a savory, or sweet AM treat, and of course coffee! Photography by: Emily B Photo

One of my favorite parts of living in Phoenix is the tasty plate options so close by. This paired with the fact that my favorite meal of the day is breakfast (or “brunch” if it is after 11) has made for some pretty spectacular meals out. While I like to try new places, I have my go-to Phoenix breakfast spots. I tell my friends about these places, if I don’t just bring them with me. And I tell people from out of town about them. Because a visit to the valley isn’t complete without some delicious AM food (even in the PM)!

LGO

Two words: curbside pickup. I usually have a car full of flowers and eucalyptus covering my hands – they just bring all the nourishment out to me. It’s pretty spectacular. Their chocolate chip cookie is worth it. Their honey latte with house made almond milk is worth it. And one day I’ll feel as good about my homemade pizza crust as theirs, but it might be awhile.

What I order here: commuter sandwich with turkey or avocado and a honey latte

I go for the sandwich, because their English muffins are AMAZING. When I am with a group it’s pizza and a salad plus one of my favorite beverages. Their honey latte has gotten me through plenty of full wedding weekends.

Not many people know this, but If you need a simple special occasion cake, they’re pretty dang delicious from LGO Bakery. I have purchased one for a birthday celebration or two.

Snooze

Everyone is entitled to their own rating system to decide on top breakfast. For me, the perfect sweet and savory split is usually the sign of a favorite spot. Breakfast means there is an excuse to have the best of both worlds. Justin and I might not be great at sharing all the time, but we have perfected sharing our favorite dishes from Snooze. If you’re rolling your eyes at even the thought of the wait time at snooze let me just make a little suggestion, get it to-go. I understand, most of the fun of eating out can be the never ending warm cup of coffee because someone is taking care of that all morning. But if you just need a delicious snooze fix, then maybe ponder ordering your favorites to-go so you can get your fix in about 20 minutes flat.

The staff is always kind at Snooze and it is a neat atmosphere. They also have very FUN cocktails. It’s a must visit when family is in town or if we are double dating because it is so unique and delicious. We can handle the wait because we plan for it and just take the time to chat. It’s part of the experience for us. It’s also a favorite spot especially because we can walk there with our pup. We pick up breakfast to-go and sit in a calm place in the plaza with the pup, away from the crazy.

What I order here: (to share) breakfast burrito and pancake of the day, with a drip coffee.

If you’re into sharing, this combo is my favorite. Not because I’m generous, but because I want to have both sweet and savory. Half a breakfast burrito and some of the pancake of the day, that’s the way to go. Therefore, it’s a great place to go for a brunch date or with friends.

Lux Central

Lux Central is one of my favorites for not only their drinks and bites, but I always run into friends there.  It’s the spot where I see old friends and pick to meet new friends.

What I order here: oatmeal and a latte, maybe with vanilla.

Their oatmeal is one of my favorites, but everything they make is DELICIOUS. Seriously, cannot go wrong. Beverage of choice, latte maybe with vanilla. Every pastry is delicious. It’s my favorite place to get coffee beans in their refillable jar. They should basically sponsor my gal Carlie of Riding Tandem, a wedding planning/coordinating pro! If we meet up, we meet at Lux, and I think that’s sort of her M-O. Their salads and soups are delicious for a working dinner meeting also. Their cocktails are also amazing whenever you have something to celebrate, or not.

Matt’s is a quaint, local spot. I like their story of simple and delicious. Sure, we’ve waited once in a while, but we can get in pretty quick and just have a nice time. And they are pretty dang nice.

What I order here: home fries, omelette, and toast with preserves, and a drip coffee

I am a creature of habit here. I love their home fries (potatoes cooked just right with all the yummy flavors), an omelette, and a piece of toast mostly for their homemade preserves… yumm! It makes me want to learn how to make my own preserves. Maybe I’ll tackle that one day.
